Dixie Dixon Nikon Ambassador and Commercial Fashion Photographer

Dixie Dixon is a Texas born and bred commercial fashion photographer. Just a few years out of college, this 20-something’s career is unfolding one adventure after another.

She was given her first Nikon Camera, a Nikon FG, at just 12 years old, which piqued her curiosity in the field and served as her sidekick in exploring the world. She would continually clock seven to 10 hours in the darkroom without even realizing it. While in college she studied in London with a world-renowned fashion photographer and became deeply inspired by the beautiful illusion of fashion and commercial photography.   

It has been said that her idealistic vision of the world is reflected into every single frame—full of life, beautiful energy, and most of all, Soul. Her passion has lead her to shoot internationally in places such as Cannes, Toronto, Vancouver, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Ibiza, and Barcelona recently for various brands, TV shows, commercial campaigns and editorial projects. Just this year she was named the 2013 Emerging Photographer of the Year by GraphiStudio.

Jack Fusco Sigma Ambassador and Astrophotography and Landscape Photographer

Jack Fusco is a landscape astrophotographer based out of Pennsylvania. What began as a way purely to document his travels as a touring musician, photography has become his main form of creative expression. On his often sleepless journey, he strives to share the wonder of the night sky with as many people as possible. Whether chasing the Milky Way along coastlines or capturing the Northern lights in unforgiving remote locations, you're sure to find him coffee in hand, smiling up at the stars. Many of Jack's images are often planned days, weeks, or even months in advance while waiting for weather and celestial objects to align. The resulting work shows a true and complete dedication to his craft. His work has been featured by National Geographic, LA Times, NASA APOD, BBC, Forbes and many more.

Patrick Murphy-Racey | Sony Artisan

Armed with his B.A., in Photojournalism from Marquette University, his twenty-five year career has only and always been about photography. Murphy-Racey has seen a great variety of assignments since his start in newspapers, through the peak years of being a magazine freelancer, his tenure as a regular contributor to Sports Illustrated, and into the corporate and industrial world of annual reports and advertising. While his assignments are varied and come from many different sources, photojournalism is his first love and constantly informs every assignment. Ever the chameleon, Murphy-Racey’s career is a long series of re-inventions and rebirths, but the visual storytelling remains the same, even as the tools change. From 4x5 to 4K, he’s technically inclined, and loves making great images. Patrick is more than competent covering just about any assignment, but his specialties include dramatic and creative use of strobe & LED lighting, sports action photography, environmental portraits, and powerful, well-lit HD interview video production. PM-R shoots both stills as well as motion and is always asking, “What’s next?

• Seeing with Awareness ~ Brian DeMint

"It is part of the photographer's job to see more intensely than most people do." Bill Brandt. I discuss how to accomplish this with examples and practical exercises to help you observe with intention! Thus, gaining a never-ending education process. If topics like Bresson's "The Decisive Moment," Gestalt Theories or Wabi-Sabi are unfamiliar, this class will significantly benefit your visual esthetic foundation! (Note) Interactive miniature stations will be set up to demonstrate the concepts discussed, so bring your camera with your best closeup lenses and a very open mind.

• Off camera flash ~ Jason Hudson

Welcome to the world of off-camera flash! Learn creative and inspiring lighting techniques to take your photography to the next level. You don't have to have a lot of expensive equipment to make stunning photographs! We will learn off-camera flash in both a low light indoor environment and bright outdoor conditions. After this workshop you'll be able to photograph people in any lighting condition!

I have three flashes and three transmitters for the participants to use. Participants will need their own camera (that has manual mode) and lenses. Participants will need to know how to get their camera into manual mode and also know how to change aperture and shutter speed. There won't be time during the workshop to teach participants how to use
their camera.

• Nature outing to Lake Leatherwood ~ Brennen Duffield

Nature Photography with the Lighting and Lenses you Have Spend the morning learning how to shoot with the lenses you have out in nature!  We will start inside where we will spend some time getting to know each other and our equipment. We will then proceed to Lake Leatherwood to do some hands on learning.  This will be a great workshop for all levels of nature photography enthusiasts.  Flashcards with starter points for different types of shooting will be provided.
